Extraordinary ministers of holy communion (EMHC) serve an essential role in the Catholic Church by assisting in the distribution of the Eucharist during Mass, especially in larger congregations or when there are not enough priests or deacons available. Their participation helps ensure that the sacred act of receiving Holy Communion is carried out reverently and efficiently. Beyond Mass, these ministers extend the Church's mission by bringing the Eucharist to the sick, homebound, or hospitalized, enabling those unable to attend services to remain connected to the sacramental life of the Church. In doing so, they embody Christ's love and foster spiritual unity within the community.
