Kalnasy Concert Series Season 2016-17 Presents the Southern Maryland Community Gospel Choir
The first concert of the Kalnasy Concert Series for the 2016-17 season will be presented by the Southern Maryland Community Gospel Choir.
The concert will be held at St. Aloysius on Sunday, August 21, at 3:00 PM. The theme of this concert is "UNITY!"" The Director of the SMCGC is Mrs. Sherri Fenwick,
a professional musician, and a recent retiree from the St. Mary's County Public Schools,
where she taught music for 36 years.
The Gospel Choir consists of people from many different backgrounds and religions;
their mission if to "create harmony through diversity" and use music to bless and encourage people.
Admission is free and donations are always accepted.

Share Mercy with People in Need
Catholic Charities, the social service arm of the Church, welcomes you, the Church, to share mercy by serving people in need. Come make a difference in someone's life and your own! Sign up for a onetime event or make a bigger commitment: be a mentor to someone returning from prison, welcome people arriving at a shelter for the night, or help provide 1,000 people with dental care at the Southern Maryland Mission of Mercy (clinical and general volunteers needed for this event July 28-30 in Waldorf).

Sunday TV Mass
Do you know someone who cannot get to Mass?
Since 1952, the Archdiocese of Washinton has produced a weekly televised Mass for those who are homebound, broadcast from the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
It is a wonderful ministry for those members of our Catholic family who are unable to be physically present with a local worshiping community for the Sunday Eucharistic Liturgy.
The Mass airs every Sunday at 10:30am on WDCW-50.

They will be opportunities to see beautiful churches and places!
We need chaperones and help with transportation for each.

Ridge Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxilary
Sunday, September 18th,K & B Tours presents a trip to Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, MD, as a fundraiser for the Auxilary.
The price is $50.00 per person but you get back $35.00.
The bus will be leaving Ridge Fire House at 8:00am and returning approximately 6:30pm.

Camp St. Charles
Boys and Girls Catholic Overnight Summer Camp.
Fully accredited with the American Camp Association and certified by the State of Maryland, Camp St. Charles has been run by the Salvatorian Fathers and Brothers and Lay Salvatorians for over 60 years.

Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad is hosting a Brown bag Auction Saturday, August 27th.
Doors open at noon and auction begins a 2:00pm at Ridge Volunteer Firehouse.
Tickets are $1 a peace, 6 for $5, 14 for $10, or an arms length for $20.
Bring a non-perishable food item for St. Cecilia's Food Pantry and receive 5 free tickets (limit 1 per family).
The Ridge VFD Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a Vendor Fair during the Auction.

Catechists for Faith Formation
St. Michael's Parish is in need of teachers for the Sunday morning faith formation classes.
Teachers for Kindergarten; 5th and 7th grades are especially desired.
Please consider giving an hour or so of your time each Sunday morning from 9:15am to 10:15am to hand down the Faith of our Church and the love of God to our children.
All volunteers are required to complete the Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection Program.

Historic St. Mary's City
This August, for the first time in over 15 years the Maryland Dove, a recreated tall ship, is headed back to Baltimore.
The ship is an important exhibit presenting the story of the first colonists of Maryland and their journey to the New World and we are excited to once again share that exhibit with the public in Baltimore. Historic St. Mary's City will open the Dove to visitors and also host a gala on Pier One, in Baltimore's Inner Harbor (301 E. Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202).
The Dove will be docked in the Inner Harbor, at Pier One, from Friday, August 19th to Monday, August 29th and open to the general public.
On the evening of August 25th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm the Gala will be held.

Local World Youth Day Festival for Young Adults
On Saturday, July 30th at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, join thousands of young adults (18-39, married and single) from across the region at Kraków in the Capital, a day-long experience coinciding with the celebration of World Youth Day with Pope Francis in Kraków, Poland. St. Maria's Meals, Breakfast Distribution Program
Every Friday morning, volunteers serve a hot breakfast in the parking lot at the corner of University Boulevard and Piney Branch Road.
Volunteers set up the tables and tents, serve breakfast and help with clean up.
Catholic Charities is seeking committed groups of 5 to volunteer at different times throughout the year.

Youth Group New Schedule
Middle School Youth Group is Tuesdays, 5:30pm-7:00pm at IHM;
High School Youth Group is every other Saturday, 7:00pm-9:00pm at St. Cecilia's (starting Sep. 26th) - full calendar forthcoming; Discussion Group for High School (Politics/Philosophy) is Wednesdays, 7:00pm- 9:00pm at St. Cecilia's.

World Youth Day--St. Mary's Ryken High School students have the opportunity to go to World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland in July 2016. Students will follow the Footsteps of Saint Pope John Paul II, visiting his hometown and all of the places important in his life before becoming Pope. We will then welcome Pope Francis to Krakow and spend four days celebrating our rich Catholic faith with him and tens of thousands of catholic youth from all over the world.
This is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity and students will make memories that last a lifetime.
The cost of the trip in $4000.00 for round-trip airfare, four-star hotel accommodations, World Youth Day registration, tours, land transportation, and most meals. We plan to fundraise to make the cost more affordable.
